Day 15 - Feb 15

Breakfast in Canberra Novotel was scrambled eggs, mushrooms and other lovely things; snack = nothing; lunch = fish salad [at BluFish in DeGraves street; snack = nothing;

Day 16 - Feb 16

Weighed in at 61.5 Breakfast = tuna and tomato; snack = tofu; lunch = caesar salad; snack = tofu; dinner = sausages in tomato sauce; snack = tofu. Went to donate plasma in the morning but the machine malfunctioned and I ended up donating more than 200 mils of whole blood which means I won't be able to donate anything for at least a month. Went on to Monash and had yoga with Janie which was great, though very hot work.

Day 17 - Feb 17

Weighed in at 60.5 which is good. I hope I can keep this up while Mike and Denise are here. Breakfast = tuna and tomato; snack = tofu; lunch = tofu and salad; snack = tofu; nibbly things at council reception; snack tofu. Had one drink at the council reception, did 10,000 paces plus and drank plenty of water. All in all pretty good. Spent the day at home and worked on the Arthur lecture; did the washing so that Laura's sheets are clean for Mike and Denise. Did a whack of tidying up in Laura's room and it looks quite good now. Council was at 4 p.m. at Council and even though it was hotter than I normally like I walked there

Day 18 - Feb 18

Weighed in at 61.5 kg. Breakfast = tuna and tomato; snack = tofu; lunch = beef sashimi; snack = tofu; dinner = barbecue spiral sausage and chicken shaslick with salad; snack = nothing. Went to the Glen for shopping in the morning then headed home and got ready for Mike and Denise's arrival. They turned up about 5.30 and we had a drink and then I headed upstairs for a skype conversation with AEMA but it didn't work and after half and hour a mucking about we deferred it to next week same time. The barbecue was good and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Dranks way too much wine and Mike's special mixture which was simply not wise. Wewnt to bed with a glass of water which ended up all over me by the morning.

Day 19 - Feb 19

Weighed in at 60.5 though I am drinking and eating too much. Breakfast = tuna and tomato; snack = nothing; lunch = ham and cheese wrap; snack = nothing; dinner = roast with veg and lots of other not so good things. Didn't drink too much today but woke up with the possibility of a hangover from over indulgence last night. Went to the zoo to see the baby elephant in the morning where we had lunch and then DFO at South Wharf. Home in time to put the roast in and all's well. Laura came but Harry was not well and unable to come.

Day 20 - Feb 20

weighed in at 61.5 which is not too bad considering how badly I'm eating. Breakfast = sausage; snack = nothing; lunch = caesar salad; snack = nothing; dinner = restaurant meal at Sun Luk; several glasses of wine and a beer at lunch time as well as a latte. Today we went shopping at Bunnings in the morning and bought three fans with lights for Laura's room, my room and the study; garden arch; water feature; magnificent pot plant for the bathroom and other sundry bits and pieces. After Bunnings we went to the Nott for counter lunch. We came home and I'd managed to lock us out after having left all the house keys inside. Anyway Laura dropped over and rescued us, which was just as well as it was hot, hot, hot. Harry is in hospital with suspected appendicitis, or irritable bowel syndrome or Krohn's disease. Mike helped [did the lion's share really] with installing the arch and the water feature as well as two more little plaques for the fence. We had dinner at Sun Luk and then headed into town ostensibly to go to the observation deck of the Rialto towers, but when we got there the notice said that it had been permanently closed since end December 2009. We walked up to the casino and had coffee then came on home and to bed.

Day 21 - Feb 21

Mike and Denise left this morning and I must get back on track. The weather is still beastly hot but I did some gardening and planted out the garlic and the mint as well as the petunias Denise gave me yesterday. Unfortunately I weighed in at 62.5 which is the heaviest I've been for a while. It's probably because I've been having too many glasses of wine and Mike's special mixture - as well as piggout in general. Breakfast = tuna, dip and tomato; snack = cheese; lunch = cheese, salad and dip; snack = cheese; dinner = sausages with mediterranean veg with dip; snack = cheese. pedometer = 11,216; at least 3 litres of water. Starting in earnest tomorrow.

Day 11 - Feb 11

Finally checked out the bodysculpt stuff and note that I don't need to have the toast in the morning but can have cheese and or nuts [in reasonably controlled portion sizes] on jumpstart days. So breakfast = tuna and tomato; snack - ham; lunch - ham in tomatoe and vegetables; snack - ham; dinner - baked chicken legs with steamed brozen veg; snack - cold chicken leg. I watched all of the first and second videos and am ready to do the bodysculpt exercises tomorrow. Weighed in at 62 kg

Day 10 - Feb 10

Another hot day so I am staying at home today. Weighed in at 61.5 which is where I began this journey. I put my goals up on the web and I'll repeat them here as I need to adapt them
1. Lose 5 kg though I think I'm going to have to make that 6 kg if I want to get down to a BMI of 24.9 which would take me officially out of the overweight range. My aim is to get to 56 kg.
2. to lose the rolls lof fat above and below by waistline - then I will be able to wear fitted tops without any issues
3. to tone up the tops of my arms so I can wear sleeveless tops without embarassment
4. to stick to the plan without giving myself an easy ride and giving in to temptation because I can
5. Restricting my intake of wine to occasions when I am socialising, and then with limits
6. Taking more time in planning so I can relax and not think about this process
7. to commence using the bands of bodysculpt and properly finding out about it.
So for breakfast tuna on toast; snack - ham; lunch - ham salad; snack - ham; dinner - sausages in tomato sauce with salad; snack - ham. BUT also had two lovely glasses of red

Day 9 - Feb 9

Weighed in this morning at 60.5 kg Yippee!! Breakfast = tuna on toast; snack = corned beef; lunch = cabbage and corned beef; snack = corned beef; dinner = steak and salad; snack = corned beef. BUT I fell of the rails in that it was a stinking hot day and though I did the 10,000 steps I was so hot, sticky and nasty by the time I got home I downed two stubbies [coopers original pale ale - yummy] a chilled glass of sherry and lots of chocbits [white]. I wonder if I have a self defeating inclination?

Day 8 - Feb 8

Monday again and weighed in at 61.5 kg again. Breakfast = tuna on toast; snack = corned beef slice; lunch = corned beef and mixed vegetables; snack = corned beef slice; dinner = steak and salad; snack = corned beef slice or two. APC meeting all day today and managed to resist all the yummy sandwiches, fruit and biccies. Had lots of coffee though. Went for two long walks in the continuingly nasty heat and did well over the 10,000 steps again. Maybe it's paying off.

Day 7 - Feb 7

Ric's birthday - I wonder if the girls will remember to ring him. My weight this morning was 61.5kg - heading in the right direction at least. Did the washing and the shopping and it's bloody hot, again. Breakfast = tuna on toast; snack = tofu; lunch = tofu salad; snack = tofu; dinner = corned beef with mustard sauce, steamed cabbage and mixed vegetables; snack = corned beef. Not too bad - went for two walks and did well over the 10,000 mark. Resisted wine but succumbed to a chilled glass of sherry.

Day 6 - Feb 6

My weight this morning was 62kg. Sigh. Breakfast - tuna on toast; snack - protein bar; lunch - small seafood platter; snack - tofu; dinner - fish and chips with a couple of glasses of wine - a picnic in the park with Sarah, Craig, Laura and Miss Polly - fabulous stuff and the wine was a very beautiful German Riesling. Yum Then we went back to Sarah and Craig's place for tea and cupcakes that Laura had made. I had a late night snack of another tofu slice. I recharged the sodastream so there's plenty of carbonated chilled water around and loving it.

Day 5 - Feb 5

My weight this morning is 62 kg - an increase rather than a decrease! Oh well I'll keep plugging away at this until I get to my goal. [I must actually articulate these] Breakfast - tuna on toast; tofu snack [a little late]; lunch - chickpea salad; tofu snack; dinner - fish fillets and steamed vegetables. All well and good BUT went to the Nott with Carol and Tracey and demolished 2 full glasses of red and diverse chips and twisties. Came home and finished off the bottle of chardonnay [only about 1 glass, but still...]. Went to bed with a mighty mite drink.

Day 4 - Feb 4

Breakfast - toast and panang tuna; snack - ham; lunch - chick pea and grilled eggplant salad; snack - ham; snack - chicken stick; dinner - steak and salad. I've almost finished the Magdalene concert design which is a good think as it has been taking up too much of my time and I've been doing my usual perfectionist digressive thing. Went to John Bigelow's retirement celebration and learnt much about this very interesting person. Dirk Baltzy made a very engaging keynote welcome and addressed the theme of the Bigger-Low efect which is really about having the intellectual modesty to facilitate intellectual achievements in others. Most inspiring. I failed to resist temptation and had a glass of red wine.

Day 3 - Feb 3

Checked out the week 1 lesson from Geoff Jowett - very energetic - must get on to the bands thing for body sculpt tonight. Breakfast - toast and panang curry tuna; ham snack; bought caesar salad; ham snack; dinner was a smoked trout salad; tofu for after dinner snack. Great day and though I sneaked two lovely glasses of chardonnay with dinner I sort of compensated by doing pilates at lunch time. Carol A came over after work for latin revision and stayed for dinner - great company.

Day 2 - Feb 2

Breakfast toast and smoked oysters; tofu snack; 2 cheese wedges; tofu and salad for lunch; ham snack; dinner grilled fish and tomato and fennel salad as well as grilled eggplant and fetta salad; ham snack. Walk morning and evening even though it is disgustingly hot. No lapses today. Black coffee first thing; cup of tea; ginger drink; skinny latte; heaps of water. My weight this morning was 61.5 k. This is not so bad and I'm almost not missing a glass of wine with dinner.

Day 1 - Feb 1

Challenge begins. Breakfast toast and smoked mussells; ham snack; lunch hard boiled egg and cold broccoli; ham snack; dinner steak and salad; ham snack. Two walks morning and evening. The day was quite difficult in that I was in a meeting all day - Academic Performance committee and lunch was provided so there were sandwiches and biscuits along with fruit and juice available all day. I resisted it all and stuck to my diet. Not bad. black coffee first thing; 2 skinny lattes; vegemite drink and heaps of water. My weight this morning was 61.5 k.
